About Dragon Pearl
The Dragon Pearl
The origins of the deep fried sesame ball can be traced back to thousands of years ago as a palace food in Changan (known as “ludeui” ), during the Tang, Qin and Han Dynasties. This dish is now usually served in small portions because the large size “Dragon Pearls” at Dragon Pearl Buffet can only be made by trained chefs. Originally deep fried sesame balls are made in the New Year, and given as souvenirs when people visit their friends and family. The Deep Fried Sesame Ball is also a symbol of good luck.
Originating from Shanxi, China, the Dragon noodle is a famous oriental pasta cuisine. The noodle is best known for how its made; a skilled chef will fling the dough into a thin string of noodle landing in a boiling pot. The Chef will be able to continously fling the dough without it breaking, hence the name “Single-Strand noodle”(another name for dragon noodle). It is very much a performance as it is a delicacy. This dish is served at birthday parties, wedding parties, holidays and Chinese New Year because it symbolizes longevity and good luck.
Transformation of Petrified Wood
Petrified is the name given to a special type of fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation. It is the result of a tree having turned completely into stone by the process of permineralization. All the organic materials have been replaced with minerals, while retaining the original structure of the wood. Petrified wood is a three dimensional representation of the original organic material. The petrifaction process occurs underground, when wood becomes buried under sediment and is initially preserved due to a lack of oxygen which inhibits aerobic decomposition. Mineral-laden water flowing through the sediment deposits minerals in the plant’s cells and as the plant’s lignin and cellulose decay, a stone mould forms in its place. Dragonpearl Buffet’s collection of Petrified wood is an example of the immense atmostphere of culture and history present at the restaurant.
Green concept of Ancient Ship Wood
Dragon Pearl Buffet is determined to provide a beautiful aesthetic eating ambiance and also become a pioneer of environmental friendliness. The enticing wooden architecture and furniture in the restaurant is made from Ancient ship wood. Ancient Ship wood is wood that is taken from retired wooden ships; turning what would have been wasted wood, into treasure for the eyes. Ancient Ship Wood is composed mostly of century old trees, mainly Catalpa tree ( Catalpa wood white, green ctalpa wood, Red Catapa wood), Queensland Austin wood, Ironwood, Stone Vertebrae, teak oil, Lychee trees, Elm, Pine and so on. After decades and Centuries of water immersion and being washed by waves, the wood develops a waterproof, anti-moth, anti-insect effect and also becomes amazingly tough and wear-resistant. The Ancient Ship wood brings an aura of history and complexity to the artistic decor of the restaurant while pertaining to a modernistic idea of “Green life”.
